Adam Prather to join The Hill as publisher

The Hill, publication of record for Washington policymakers and influencers, today announces that Adam Prather is to become its new publisher. Prather joins The Hill from Politico, where he was national advertising director. He will assume his role in the new year and will report to James Finkelstein, chairman of News Communications, parent company of The Hill.

As publisher of The Hill, Prather will oversee integrated sales, marketing, events and circulation in addition to overall revenue for the brand. He will also continue to build on recent initiatives such as the newly redesigned website and expanded advertising offerings.

“Adam has a highly distinguished record in publishing and an unmatched familiarity with Washington media,” said Finkelstein. “He’s going to be a tremendous asset to us as we expand our coverage of Washington politics to new platforms for our readers.”

Prather has worked on the business side of a number of leading national and Washington-based publishing enterprises including Politico, Yahoo, and Roll Call. As national advertising director at Politico, he was responsible for generating new business for the brand as well as collaborating in the development of corporate strategy, new products and employee training, and managing relationships with ad agencies in a number of major media markets.

Prather replaces Francine McMahon, who has served as publisher of The Hill since 2006. McMahon is leaving on Dec. 31 to start her own firm, the Capital Image Counsel (CIC).

Mario Grande, The Hill’s digital director, is being promoted to the position of associate publisher. He has played a leading role in growing online sales for several years as The Hill’s website has grown exponentially. Grande has two decades of success in sales in both Washington, D.C., and New York City.
