The Hill beats Politico, smashes traffic records

The Hill, the leading authority for U.S. political news and global insight, analysis and commentary, posted record numbers for December 2015, unseating Politico.

According to the December 2015 comScore numbers released Thursday, The Hill recorded 10,577,000 unique visitors, compared to Politico’s 8,515,000 unique visitors. This is a 175.7 percent increase year over year for The Hill.

“The Hill has been on a steady path of accelerated growth over the past year, and this latest achievement is especially exciting,” said Jimmy Finkelstein, chairman of The Hill. “Our continued success has confirmed our mission of creating serious journalism for the Web, and we look forward to sharing our plans for the future in the coming weeks.”

The comScore announcement comes on the heels of an independent study conducted by SimilarWeb, which found that The Hill had the biggest year-over-year increase in traffic among all U.S. publishers through November.

The findings solidify The Hill's standing as the go-to site for news and commentary — SimilarWeb found that The Hill reached 72 percent year-over-year online traffic growth, the biggest among the 114 leading publishers studied, having increased its visits from 9.2 million to 15.9 million. Mr. Finkelstein added that “The Hill’s increases have since accelerated.”

Also in December, the social analytics company CrowdTangle named The Hill one of the 15 biggest Facebook news pages in total interactions in 2015, stating, “If you had an award for the best performing news Page of the year, The Hill would be the runaway favorite.”
