Afghanistan to lead discussions on shows

By Michael O'Brien - 10/10/09 07:48 AM ET

President Barack Obama's options in Afghanistan will again be on the table during this Sunday's morning talk shows.

Top lawmakers on committees governing foreign policy, military strategy, and intelligence will largely dominate the Sunday circuit as the president ponders how to proceed in Afghanistan.

Senate Intelligence Committee Chairwoman Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.) will face off against Sen. Saxby Chambliss (R-Ga.) on ABC, on which Rep. Jim McGovern (D-Mass.) will also appear to discuss his bill requiring the Obama administration to submit an exit strategy for withdrawal in Afghanistan.

On CNN, Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.), who has advocated for Gen. Stanley McChrystal's recommended troop increase in Afghanistan, will appear on "State of the Union" to talk foreign policy and Afghanistan.

The chairman of the Senate Armed Services Committee, Sen. Jack Reed (D-R.i.), will appear on CBS's "Face the Nation" on Sunday alongside Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.).

On "Fox News Sunday," the economy and manufacturing sector are set to dominate debate, with two Midwestern governors set to appear.

Govs. Jennifer Granholm (D-Mich.) and Mitch Daniels (R-Ind.) will appear to discuss the flagging economy in those states amidst the latest unemployment news this past week.
