The Hill will be covering developments on the healthcare reform bill live this
weekend as House Democrats head toward a Sunday vote on the legislation.
Republicans
have vowed to fight the bill to the end as Democrats continue to work
toward the 216 votes needed for passage. On Saturday, Tea Party
activists will be joined by Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-Minn.), actor Jon
Voight and President Barack Obama's second cousin, Dr. Milton Wolf, for
a "Code Red" rally against the bill on Capitol Hill. Inside the
Capitol, which is opening at 9 a.m., the bill will undergo scrutiny at
the House Rules Committee as leadership banks on a Sunday vote.
On Sunday, leaders including House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer
(D-Md.), Majority Whip James Clyburn (D-S.C.), Minority Leader John
Boehner (R-Ohio) and Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.)
will be making the rounds on the morning news shows in one last push
before the Capitol opens for business at 1 p.m.
Sunday is a busy day in Washington as the March for America, a pro-immigration rally, descends on the National Mall, highlighting an up-and-coming hot-button issue on Obama's agenda. Some of the president's foreign policy challenges will be highlighted at the opening day of the American Israel Public Affairs Committee conference, where Sen. Evan Bayh (D-Ind.) is scheduled to speak in the morning.

- With a U.S. consulate worker and her husband killed in Mexico last weekend, responding to south-of-the-border drug violence has gained a renewed traction on Capitol Hill after nearly a year lacking focus, with several lawmakers from the region imploring Obama to put a strong focus back on the issue. The Hill's Jordy Yager reports.
- A fiercely debated provision that would have expanded healthcare coverage for construction workers has been jettisoned out of the final reform bill. But that will only sideline the lobbying battle between unions and business associations on the measure. Business and Lobbying reporter Kevin Bogardus has the story.
