Democrat Jay Fawcett is tied with the Republican nominee in an overwhelmingly Republican district in Colorado, according a poll released yesterday by The Denver Post.
Fawcett and Republican Doug Lamborn are tied 37-37, with 26 percent of voters undecided. No Democrat has represented the district since it was created more than 30 years ago, and retiring Rep. Joel Hefley (R-Colo.) has for two decades faced almost no Democratic opposition.
Some Republicans in the district, including Hefley, have voiced disappointment with Lamborn. They tried to draft Hefley for a write-in campaign after Lamborn won the primary, but he declined.
