Sen. Byrd released from hospital
Sen. Robert Byrd (D-W.Va.) was released from the hospital Tuesday and is
resting "comfortably" at home, according to a statement from his office.
Byrd, 91, will continue physical therapy at home after contracting a staph
infection during his hospital stay. He entered the hospital for a minor
infection, his office said.
"I am pleased to be home in anticipation of celebrating our nation's
birthday with my loving family," Byrd said in the statement. "I also thank
everyone who sent me their good wishes and prayer."
Byrd has been in the hospital and has not returned to the Senate for the
past few weeks.
