Fake Jobs for Fake Congressional Districts (Rep. Joe Wilson)

By Rep. Joe Wilson (R-S.C.) - 11/18/09 03:44 PM ET

Last night, I learned that the government website charged with reporting fraud and abuse is its very own worst offender.  Recovery.gov, the Administration’s website that is designed to report waste of misnamed stimulus funds, has produced a fake report.

Upon visiting the site, you see that $6 million was used to create six jobs in South Carolina’s fake 16th Congressional District.  It also shows that $3 million couldn’t even produce a single job in South Carolina’s fake 43rd district.  Somehow, $1.8 million was spent for 1.4 jobs in the fake 00 district.  This would be funny, but the money belongs to taxpayers, not the government.

I know we have been asking this Administration to show us the jobs, but this isn’t what we had in mind.

In addition to correcting the errors on the website, I sincerely hope that this Administration will also listen to Republican ideas to jump start America’s economy by creating real jobs for hardworking American families.

you lie.BY Keith Whitaker on 11/18/2009 at 17:45
Congressmen Joe Wilson should be ashamed of himself for embarrassing his district when he blatantly showed disrespect for the House rules and the office of the President. With that said I understand if a feeling of discontent was rendered once you found incorrect information posted about your state, however, you should also understand that the people who are managing, developing, and supporting the website are not directly contact by the President himself and believe it or not, "JUST LIKE YOU" people do make mistakes. So I would hope that you use your remaining time as a Congressman to support your district, taking time to write articles about the mistakes made by web developers seems more like a job for those who making a living reporting news (e.g. journalists), not more important elected officials who govern the welfare of our nation and should be correcting information on current legislation.BY Dominick Jones on 11/18/2009 at 17:46
Every one experiences a time when they "blurt" something out. A "did I just say that out loud" moment.BUT! Joe Wilson WAS RIGHT! On that web sight, did it say how many people design the $88 Million web sight?BY Mon on 11/18/2009 at 21:02
Joe was right Obama is a liar, infact his whole administration plus Pelosi and Reid are liars. They lie about the cost of the health rationing bill which will end up costing trillions yes trillions more than they have estimated and they know the true costs!BY William on 11/18/2009 at 21:40
This is too funny. Joe Wilson is much less radical than Alan Grayson. Liberals love Grayson but go nuts aver Wilson.BY Mark X on 11/18/2009 at 22:02
Actually—- they're pretty good foils. Can't say I much like the tactics on either side. I guess Grayson got tired of Wilson not having some push-back; much in the same way that MSNBC at long last promoted a progressive opinion team to address the non-pushback against Fox's 24/7 Republican promotion.BY Honest Abe on 11/19/2009 at 02:39
Regarding "disrespect for house rules and office of the President" posted by Dominick Jones, was it not equally disrespectful of the President to call a Joint Session of Congress, normally regaled for utmost serious matters facing our nation for an infomercial? Assembling the joint session and using the infomercial to purposely lie to the American people is beyond "disrespect". Those who would say "he did not lie" would denote Obama was ignorant of the facts. A another major insult to the joint session procedure.BY Mon on 11/19/2009 at 10:03
The government has been caught lying? Oh my. You people act like it's the first time. Every time a politician opens their mouth they are lying, just some are better at it then others, and apparently the Obama admistration is not very good at it. SO STOP LYING OBAMA!!! Create real jobs. I have been out of work for over a year. AND I HAVE A COLLEGE DEGREE!!!!!!!!! !BY Jimmy on 11/19/2009 at 10:04
