95 lawmakers to attend Millender-McDonald service
Posted: 04/28/07 11:03 AM [ET]
Two military planes will ferry 95 lawmakers on Monday to Rep. Juanita Millender-McDonald’s (D-Calif.) funeral, said several sources familiar with the arrangements.

Lawmakers traveling by military jet to Los Angeles on Monday will meet at 7:45 a.m. at the Rayburn Building to catch buses to Andrews Air Force Base, according to a notice sent out by the Sergeant at Arms.

They are expected to arrive at Los Angeles International Airport at 10:30 a.m. The funeral starts at noon at the Second Baptist Church. At 2:30 p.m., lawmakers will depart the funeral service for LAX and they are expected to return to Andrews at 11:30 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, family members were asking for donations be made in the name of Millender-McDonald to the African American Women’s Health and Education Foundation in Carson, Calif.

Millender-McDonald died last Sunday. She is survived by her husband James, five children, Valerie, Angela, Sherryll, Chris and Keith, and five grandchildren.
