Bloomberg and Hagel together again
Posted: 06/11/08 06:51 PM [ET]

New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg (I) and Sen. Chuck Hagel (R-Neb.), who had meetings during the primary season, will be together again on Thursday.

Bloomberg is scheduled to appear before the Banking, Housing and Urban Affairs Committee, of which Hagel is a member.

The two men were at the heart of political rumors throughout much of last year as political observers wondered if the Independent mayor and anti-Iraq war Republican were teaming up for a third-party presidential bid.

While nothing ever came of the talk — except a few sightings of the two together — Bloomberg continues to be a potential vice presidential candidate for Republican candidate Sen. John McCain (Ariz.), at least in the eyes of many.
