House Minority Leader John Boehner (R-Ohio) will undergo back surgery on Friday.

The surgery will repair a bulging disk in his back that is impinging on a nerve that causes pain in his hip. The surgery will occur at Bethesda Naval Hospital in Bethesda, Md. Boehner, an avid golfer, is scheduled for an MRI Thursday.

Boehner is expected to be back to his regular work schedule next week.
