Boozman tapped to replace Baker as ranking member
Posted: 02/19/08 06:56 PM [ET]

Rep. John Boozman (R-Ark.) has been named the ranking member on the Transportation and Infrastructure subcommittee on water resources and environment.

Boozman will replace ex-Rep. Richard Baker (R-La.), who resigned from Congress recently to become head of the Managed Funds Association.

The transportation subcommittee has jurisdiction on water resources development, conservation and management, water pollution control, water infrastructure and hazardous waste cleanup.

In a release, Transportation and Infrastructure Committee Republican leader John Mica (Fla.) said, “With his legislative experience and knowledge of the issues, John is the perfect choice to lead subcommittee Republicans in their work to address the nation’s growing need for water infrastructure, port and waterway improvements, flood control projects and environmental stewardship.”

Boozman, who is in his fourth term, is listed as the 18th ranking GOP member on the Transportation panel.

“I want to thank Congressman Mica for giving me this opportunity. I look forward to working with [panel Chairwoman Eddie Bernice] Johnson [D-Texas],” Boozman said in the release.
