Cheney cancels appearance because of heart problem
Posted: 10/15/08 11:02 AM [ET]
Vice President Cheney has canceled an event Wednesday because of a heart problem and will undergo a corrective procedure later in the day, his office said.

Cheney was supposed to attend a fundraiser in Illinois later in the day. However, his doctors in the morning “discovered that the vice president is experiencing a recurrence of atrial fibrillation, an abnormal rhythm involving the upper chambers of the heart,” according to a statement from his press secretary Megan Mitchell.

“Later this afternoon, the vice president will visit George Washington University Hospital for an outpatient procedure to restore his normal rhythm,” Mitchell added.
