Clinton, Obama and Elizabeth Edwards to address Planned Parenthood
Posted: 07/17/07 07:20 PM [ET]

Democratic presidential candidates Sens. Hillary Rodham Clinton (N.Y.) and Barack Obama (Ill.) are scheduled to address the political arm of Planned Parenthood today.

Elizabeth Edwards will appear on behalf of her husband and former Sen. John Edwards (N.C.), who is scheduled to be in Pittsburgh for the second day of his Road to One America Tour.

An official with Planned Parenthood said the group is expecting about 500 of its public affairs officers from around the country to attend, and they will be analyzing how each of the candidates “would stand up for women’s health as president.”

“Barack Obama will talk about his longtime commitment to choice and what we can do today to protect that right and empower women,” an Obama aide said yesterday.

The rest of the field was invited to attend, the Planned Parenthood official said, but only the Obama, Clinton and Edwards campaigns responded.
