Cosmetics group gets a new look
Posted: 11/29/07 12:34 PM [ET]

The Cosmetics, Toiletry and Fragrance Association, which lobbies for the beauty-care industry, is getting a makeover.

The group has changed its name to the Personal Care Products Council (PCPC) and launched a website that provides consumers with safety information on the 1,300 ingredients that go into finished personal care and beauty products. The information is available at www.cosmeticsinfo.org.

Pamela Bailey, president and CEO of PCPC, said the group’s board recently approved the name change “to reflect a change in our mission and emphasis in what we do.”

The PCPC introduced its new look at a National Conference of State Legislatures meeting in Phoenix on Wednesday. The group represents around 600 manufacturers, distributors and suppliers of personal care products.

The newly named PCPC spent $240,000 on lobbying the first half of the year, according to Senate lobbying records.
