Filner’s court date moved to December
Posted: 10/02/07 07:22 PM [ET]

Rep. Bob Filner (D-Calif.) will get his day in court, but not until December.

Filner originally was summoned to appear before the Loudoun County General District Court in Virginia on Oct. 2 to answer a misdemeanor charge for his alleged assault of a United Airlines employee at Dulles International Airport on Aug. 19.

Last week a judge granted a request from Filner’s attorney to postpone the appearance until Dec. 4, a deputy court clerk confirmed.

The House ethics committee has convened an investigative subcommittee to review allegations that the lawmaker stormed into the United Airlines baggage claims office, attempted to enter a restricted area and repeatedly pushed an airline worker as she was trying to block him.

Calls to Filner’s office were not returned by press time.
