Foley spends nearly $300,000 in legal fees
Posted: 07/16/07 11:03 AM [ET]
Former Rep. Mark Foley (R-Fla.) paid nearly $300,000 in legal fees in the second quarter of 2007, according to the most recent Federal Election Commission filings.

The fees were incurred in the first three months of 2007 and were paid to the Florida-based law firm Zuckerman Spaeder.

Despite the legal fees, Foley’s campaign committee has maintained a healthy war chest of $1,458,275 cash on hand.

Rep. Tim Mahoney (D-Fla.) defeated Republican Florida state Rep. Joe Negron in the race for Foleys seat last year.  Due to the timing of his resignation from Congress in the wake of the congressional page scandal, Foley’s name remained on the ballot.
