Former Speaker Newt Gingrich (R-Ga.) will meet with House Republicans at 10 a.m. Wednesday to discuss their continued energy protest on the House floor. “Tomorrow at 10 a.m., I will meet with those Representatives still in Washington, working to pass an energy bill that will lower gas prices, to deliver a message of encouragement on behalf of the 1.4 million Americans who have signed the ‘Drill Here, Drill Now, Pay Less’ petition at American Solutions,” Gingrich said in a post on Human Events. He added that Republicans are “winning the argument on energy.” Last month, during a meeting of the conference at the Capitol Hill Club, Gingrich urged House Republicans to keep talking about energy. He told members that the American energy message was a winning issue for the GOP and was resonating with voters. In early May, Gingrich posted an open letter on his website that called on House Republicans to formulate a platform of real change. Otherwise, Gingrich said, they could face electoral disaster. He later praised Minority Leader John Boehner (R-Ohio) and Minority Whip Roy Blunt (R-Mo.) for rolling out an aggressive agenda. |
