The biography and picture of your favorite member or senator is now just a click away after the unveiling Tuesday of the Government Printing Office’s (GPO) new searchable website.
The website, designed by the government’s printing and document accessibility arm, has been booked as a “one-stop shop” with a wealth of information available in one place, instead of in separate databases.
“This directory is an example of how GPO is using new technology and publishing trends in creating a first-class, easy-to-navigate website,” Public Printer Robert Tapella, who heads GPO, said in a statement.
Users can search for lawmakers by name, district and hometown. Groups of members by state or party affiliation are also searchable. Rep. Robert Brady (D-Pa.), chairman of the Joint Committee on Printing, described the new online guide as “an excellent resource for anyone, especially students, who wants to learn about members of Congress and the states and districts they represent.”
All House members’ offices will have access to submit updates at any time, while senators’ profiles can be updated with the help of an administrator. Registration and log-in is required to ensure secure access.
