Grams may seek return to Senate
Posted: 02/13/08 06:06 PM [ET]

Former Sen. Rod Grams (R) might seek a return to the Senate at the expense of Sen. Norm Coleman (R).

Grams, who fell to former Sen. Mark Dayton (D) in the 2000 election after one term in office, told the St. Paul Pioneer Press that he hasn’t ruled out a primary challenge and is seeking a way to register his dismay with his party.

At the same time, he said he does not want to be a spoiler in the race, which is expected to be competitive in the general election.

“I haven’t said yes; I haven’t said no,” Grams told the paper.

Grams ran against Rep. Jim Oberstar (D) in 2006, taking just 34 percent of the vote.
