A man carrying a loaded shotgun and sword near the Capitol last week will face the charge of unlawful possession of a firearm.
In a preliminary hearing on Wednesday, District of Columbia Superior Court Judge Elizabeth Carroll Wingo ruled there was probable cause for the felony change of unlawful possession of a firearm against Michael Steven Gorbey. She also ordered that Gorbey continue to be held without bond.
Gorbey, 37, has pleaded not guilty to the charge. U.S. Capitol Police arrested the Virginia resident on Jan. 19 as he walked toward the U.S. Supreme Court building with a loaded shotgun, a sword and a bag of ammunition.
Gorbey’s next court date is a Feb. 4 felony status conference.
