Kennedy leaves Boehner office
Posted: 12/21/07 03:43 PM [ET]
The press secretary for House GOP Leader John Boehner (Ohio) is leaving the office to take a position with a new startup company, Boehner announced in a release Friday.

Spokesman Brian Kennedy is leaving to take a position as vice president of Responsible Resources, a startup non-profit organization, according to the release. Michael Steel, the top Republican press officer on the House Ways and Means Committee, will replace Kennedy.

Steel is communications director for Ways and Means ranking member Jim McCrery (R-La.), who recently announced he would not seek another term in Congress. Steel previously worked as a press secretary for Rep. John Shadegg (R-Ariz.), then chair of the Republican Policy Committee.

Boehner also announced that Greg Maurer, who served as Boehner’s director of member services, was leaving the office to become the public affairs manager for UPS. He will be replaced by Danielle Maurer, a former senior floor assistant for former Majority Leader Tom DeLay (R-Texas).

The House GOP leader also announced that Geoff Embler will be his new director of legislative research. Embler most recently worked as a press secretary for Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison (R-Texas).
