Klobuchar to assume DSCC post
Posted: 06/06/07 08:19 PM [ET]
The Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee (DSCC) yesterday named Sen. Amy Klobuchar (D-Minn.) as its new outreach and policy chairwoman for the 2008 cycle.

Klobuchar, a freshman who won an open-seat race by a wide margin in 2006, will lead the committee’s efforts to reach women, environmental groups and youth.

She will lead the DSCC’s Women’s Senate Network, a group devoted to supporting female candidates that started in 2001 and includes all 11 female Democratic senators.

Committee Chairman Charles Schumer (D-N.Y.) said Klobuchar is “a forceful and effective advocate for the issues that Americans care about, and she will be an invaluable leader in our efforts to grow our majority in 2008.”
