Lampson recovering from quadruple bypass
Posted: 03/26/07 04:13 PM [ET]
Rep. Nick Lampson (D-Texas) is recovering from successful quadruple bypass surgery he received in a Houston hospital Sunday morning.

“Everything is so far, so good,” said Lampson spokesman Bobby Zafarnia. “The physicians have indicated that the surgery proceeded well, and that Congressman Lampson will make a full recovery.”

Surgery was recommended Friday by doctors at the National Naval Medical Center in Bethesda, Md., after a checkup detected irregularities in Lampson’s heart. Lampson then traveled to Houston to undergo the procedure.

Lampson will be kept under observation for several days, but is expected to leave St. Luke’s Episcopal Hospital in the Texas Medical Center in Houston by the end of the week.

Lampson will remain in Houston for three to four weeks to recover, according to his office.

“Though this was a serious procedure, Congressman Lampson has his family with him, his spirits are high, and he looks forward to returning to his office and serving his constituents as quickly as possible,” Zafarnia said.
