Latta wins primary, will face Weirauch
Posted: 11/07/07 07:35 AM [ET]
Republican state Rep. Bob Latta was declared the winner in the special primary to replace late Rep. Paul Gillmor (R-Ohio) on Wednesday morning after the final votes from a county that experienced voting machine problems were reported.

Latta received 44 percent of the vote in Tuesday’s contest, topping state Sen. Steve Buehrer’s 40 percent, according to unofficial results with 100 percent of precincts reporting.

On the Democratic side, Robin Weirauch won with 72 percent of the vote and will face Latta next month.

No totals had been reported until about 7 a.m. Wednesday in Putnam County, where voting machine failures forced Ohio Secretary of State Jennifer Brunner to keep the polls open an extra hour and a half on Tuesday night.
