Rep. Linda Sanchez (D-Calif.) followed in her sister’s footsteps Thursday and quit the Congressional Hispanic Caucus. “I have decided to suspend my membership in the Congressional Hispanic Caucus for the 110th Congress because I believe that the current leadership has not made needed structural reforms to ensure that the caucus is more equitable and inclusive of all its members,” Sanchez said in a statement Thursday. Sanchez’s sister, Rep. Loretta Sanchez (D-Calif.), left the caucus in January because she claimed caucus Chairman Joe Baca (D-Calif.) called her a “whore.” Baca has since denied using that term, but other women in the caucus have since come forward complaining about his leadership. |
