Third-party presidential candidate Ralph Nader selected Matt Gonzalez, a former San Francisco official and mayoral candidate, Thursday as his running mate.
"I chose Matt Gonzalez because I want someone who shares a sense of justice and opposition to the corporate control of society," Nader said at a press conference.
Gonzalez, a former deputy public defender and board supervisor in San Francisco, nearly pulled off a major upset there in the 2003 mayor's race.
Nader entered the race on Sunday, making this his third candidacy in a row. He damaged Democrats' chances in 2000, taking more than 2 percent of the vote, but had a much more negligible effect in 2004.
Nader said he would not seek the Green Party’s nomination this year.
