Pettitte told House panel Clemens admitted HGH use
Posted: 02/13/08 11:46 AM [ET]
A former teammate of Major League Baseball pitcher Roger Clemens has testified that Clemens admitted using human growth hormone (HGH), the chairman of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee said Wednesday.

With Clemens in the room to testify Wednesday, Chairman Henry Waxman (D-Calif.) opened the panel’s second hearing on the Mitchell Report by letting the room know that Andy Pettitte told the panel in a deposition that he had at least two conversations with Clemens about HGH.

Clemens repeated Wednesday that he has never used HGH.

In the deposition Pettitte recalled that Clemens told him in 1999 that he had used HGH while they worked out at Clemens’s gym in his Memorial, Texas home.

Pettitte also remembered a conversation with Clemens in 2005 where he said his wife, Debbie, was injected with HGH in 2003.

In testimony before the panel Wednesday, Clemens said he believes Pettitte "misremembers" what actually was said between the two.

Asked by Rep. Elijah Cummings (D-Md.) if he ever told Pettitte he used HGH, Clemens answered succinctly.

"I did not," said Clemens.

Pettitte's wife also provided a written affidavit to the panel that backed her husband’s testimony.
