Quinn Gillespie loses Gillespie
Posted: 06/14/07 07:32 PM [ET]
Ed Gillespie, a former chairman of the Republican National Committee, is again leaving the lobbying firm he co-founded, this time to replace Dan Bartlett as counselor to President Bush.

Gillespie, who started Quinn Gillespie & Associates with Democratic lobbyist Jack Quinn eight years ago, yesterday confirmed the move, rumored since Bartlett announced his resignation two weeks ago, in an e-mail to friends and associates.

“It’s not easy to leave such a great place, but I have a unique opportunity to serve my country,” Gillespie said.

Gillespie wrote that he met yesterday with Bush, who offered him the job in the White House residence.

Dave Hoppe, a former chief of staff to Sen. Trent Lott (R-Miss.), will assume the title of firm president.
