Reid says weekend work is likely
Posted: 06/18/07 03:46 PM [ET]

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) warned lawmakers Monday that weekend votes on the immigration bill are likely.

Reid said on the Senate floor that he does not like being “the bearer of bad news” but also pointed to the necessity of passing energy and immigration bills.

“I’m telling everybody the odds are tremendously [high] that we will work this weekend, and Monday there will be votes, and the votes will be Monday before 5:30,” he said.

The schedule might pose difficulties for presidential candidates from the upper chamber, who are keeping busy ahead of the second-quarter fundraising deadline.
