RNC raised $24.4 million, NRCC struggle continues |

The Republican National Committee (RNC) raked in $24.4 million in May, according to a report filed Friday, while the party’s House committee saw its cash on hand decline for the second straight month. The RNC continues to do its best to make up for lagging House and Senate committees, as well as Sen. John McCain’s (R-Ariz.) fundraising disadvantage in the presidential race. It outraised its Democratic counterpart by about $15 million in April and will almost certainly come out on top by a large margin again, though no May figures are yet available for the Democratic National Committee (DNC).The RNC spent $11.5 million and saw its cash on hand go up to $53.5 million. The DNC had just $4.4 million in cash at the end of April. The National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC), meanwhile, continues to struggle with funds. It raised $4.9 million and spent $5.1 million in May, seeing its cash on hand decrease slightly to less than $6.7 million.
Stuck in the middle of an expensive fraud investigation into a former treasurer, the NRCC already saw its cash on hand decline by about $500,000 during the month of April.
The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC) has yet to report May numbers.
The Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee (DSCC) continued its fundraising dominance over the National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC) in May, but Republicans did close the cash gap slightly.
The DSCC outraised the NRSC $5.9 million to $4.9 million, but the NRSC spent more than $2 million less, $5 million to $2.7 million.
The DSCC maintains a nearly two-to-one advantage in cash, though, with $38.5 million to the NRSC’s $21.6 million. |
