‘Suspicious’ fires break out in Senate buildings
Posted: 10/03/07 04:19 PM [ET]

Four separate, small trashcan fires were reported Wednesday in the Dirksen and Hart Senate office buildings.

The first three fires all occurred in women’s restrooms between 9 and 10:45 a.m., while the fourth fire was reported around 2 p.m.

Capitol Police spokeswoman Sgt. Kimberly Schneider described the fires as “suspicious.” She added that no one was evacuated or injured.

The investigation into the fires is ongoing, according to Capitol Police.
