Cory Gardner is heading to the upper chamber after ousting one-term Sen. Mark Udall (D). Both candidates spent big in the closely fought race, with Gardner pulling ahead in a state that voted twice for Barack Obama.

A member of the House Energy Committee, Gardner made energy issues a centerpiece of his campaign. A two-term House member, Gardner also served six years in Colorado’s General Assembly. 

After attending law school, he worked as general counsel and legislative director to Sen. Wayne Allard (R) and for the National Corn Growers Association.

Gardner lives in Yuma with his wife, Jaime, and their two children.
