Capital Club to host Gold Cup bash
The Capital Club will host a party Saturday from noon to 6 p.m. in rail-side tents at the 81st annual Virginia Gold Cup horse race in The Plains, Va.

While bus tickets are no longer available, there are still tickets left to get into the party.

The cost: $60 for women, $80 for men, which includes beer, food, wine, soft drinks and admission to the club’s tents.

Bourbon expands in Adams Morgan
Bourbon is moving on up and knocking out bar Blue on the second floor of its 2321 18th St. N.W. home.

The libations at the Adams Morgan Bourbon, including 40 different American beers and 80 different bourbons, are ideal for the connoisseur and the novice alike. Head to the casual second-floor lounge for bourbon French toast with Wild Turkey, bourbon baked beans or their famous grilled cheese. Bourbon features a specially priced beer every week along with the usual happy hour offerings.

The grand-opening party is May 18.

‘Taste of Vermont’ comes to the Capitol
The Vermont Convention Bureau, the Lake Champlain Regional Chamber of Commerce and the Greater Burlington Industrial Corp. will host a reception in Washington this month with honored guest Sen. Patrick Leahy (D-Vt.).

The reception will be held Wednesday, May 17, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. in the Russell Senate Caucus Room. The event is by invitation only, and the guest list will include senators and representatives, Vermont government officials, Vermont Convention Bureau members, Washington-based specialty food buyers, travel and food writers and meeting planners.

More than 50 Vermont businesses will be represented.

The reception will showcase Vermont food and beverage products: coffee, snacks, Vermont microbrew beers, handcrafted chocolate and artisan cheese to ice cream, meats and, of course, Vermont maple syrup.
