Mothers dine in style at the Willard

Treat the most important woman in your life to a delectable meal she won’t forget. The Willard Continental Hotel celebrates Mother’s Day on May 13 with two distinctive offerings.

The Willard Room offers a Mother’s Day Sunday brunch buffet priced at $95 for adults and $45 for children. Mom can indulge on such delicacies as Maine lobster, organic chicken filled with mushrooms, omelets, and desserts such as chocolate-covered strawberries, angel food cake and caramel lady apples, while sipping Taittinger Champagne or a signature Bloody Mary. Seatings are 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Reservations are recommended: 202-637-7440.

Another option is brunch in the grand ballroom, priced at $83 for adults and $38 for children. The feast features a sparkling wine bar and stations such as a seafood bar, a chef carving station, made-to-order Belgian waffles and homemade teacakes. Seatings are at 10:30 a.m., 11 a.m., 1 p.m. and 1:30 p.m. Reservations are recommended: 202-637-7405.

The Willard Continental Hotel is located at 1401 Pennsylvania Ave. N.W.

Bombay Club: Saturday cooking classes, lunch

Beginning in May and continuing all summer long, Bombay Club’s culinary team, lead by Nilesh Singhvi, a chef with more than 20 years experience, will open the restaurant’s kitchen the first and third Saturday of the month to eight guests for an 11 a.m. cooking class followed by a seated lunch. The cost is $60 per person and each guest will receive recipes.

If anyone doubts Singhvi’s talents, rest assured. He has cooked for the likes of former British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher, outgoing French President Jacques Chirac and President Bush.

The Bombay Club is located at 815 Connecticut Ave. N.W. Reservations for the class can be made by calling 202-659-3727.

Mother’s Day brunch on the rooftop

The Roof Terrace Restaurant at the Kennedy Center is offering a special Mother’s Day Brunch. Mothers can enjoy the breathtaking skyline views of Washington while delighting in dishes that include prime rib at the carving station, freshly shucked clams and oysters at the raw bar, seasonal gourmet salads, and an assortment of freshly baked breads and pastries. For those who prefer breakfast food, there are the chef’s craft made-to-order omelets in the deco-inspired dining room.

Roof Terrace Restaurant’s Mother’s Day Brunch will have three seatings; 10 a.m. to 11 a.m.; 12:15 p.m. to 1:15 p.m.; and 2:30 p.m. to 3 p.m. Brunch is priced at $39.95 for adults and $20 for children. Reservations are required: 202-416-8555.

The Roof Terrace Restaurant is located on the roof of The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, 2700 F St. N.W.
