All aboard the Odyssey III for an evening of glass-clinking on the river. “Bubbles on the Potomac” is an annual summer cocktail party aboard the cruise boat, hosted by the Washington Concierge Association. The theme is “Vintage, Baby, Vintage!” — meaning guests should wear cocktail attire with “groovy” flair. On deck, they will enjoy sparkling wine tasting, signature cocktails from Malibu rum, Stoli vodka and Tequipal tequila creme liqueur, a dinner buffet, dancing, live entertainment and a silent auction. The party takes place Aug. 5. Boarding is at 5:30 p.m., and the boat will return to the dock at 9 p.m. Tickets are $75. All proceeds go to charitable organizations Les Clefs d’Or Foundation, John B. Campbell Hospitality Scholarship Fund and Food & Friends.

Cocktails for the kidsAt the historic Willard Intercontinental lobby, kids can order up their own cocktails — from Shirley Temples to an in-house creation, the Round Robin Zinger (lemon juice, ginger root, green tea and lemonade). The Round Robin Bar offers munchies to complement the “kidtails.” Executive Chef Daniel Kenney concocted organic bite-size snacks, priced at $4 each. Kids can enjoy dark chocolate-dipped green apples with a Roy Rogers (a cola, lime and grenadine concoction). Or they can choose a Strawberry Cream Crush matched with a bowl of homemade organic strawberry sorbet. To truly excite the palate, try the grilled exotic fruit kabobs on sugar cane. The hotel has a rich past, being where Martin Luther King wrote his “I Have a Dream” speech, so kids can get a side order of history.
