Obama to speak to Fort Bragg troops about end of Iraq war

“The president will speak about the enormous sacrifices and achievements of the brave Americans who served in the Iraq War, and he will speak about the extraordinary milestone of bringing the war in Iraq to an end,” the White House said.

The Fort Bragg trip will come just days before the final U.S. troop leaves Iraq. One of Obama’s 2008 campaign pledges was to bring the Iraq war to an end.

“Like many other military installations across this nation, during the war in Iraq, service members from Ft. Bragg – and their families – have provided remarkable service to our country through their deployments to Iraq,” the White House said.
