Pentagon replaces general who made North Korea spy comment

“The discussion was meant to address how technology could help us in the future,” Tolley said in a statement.

The Pentagon and Tolley say that the United States has not sent special-operations forces into North Korea.

Now Tolley is being replaced by Brig. Gen. Eric Wendt, who is currently stationed in Afghanistan.

U.S. military officials in Korea are saying that Tolley’s departure is unconnected to his comments about North Korea. Jennifer Buschick, a spokeswoman for U.S. Forces Korea, told CNN, “This is a routine announcement that has been in the works for months,” and that the move “has no connection to current events.”
