Ten-term GOP congressman ousted after Md. redistricting

Bartlett, the chairman of the House Armed Services Airland subcommittee, survived a contested Republican primary but could not overcome the Democratic bent of his congressional district after the lines were redrawn.

Democrats in the Maryland statehouse targeted Bartlett during the redistricting process, adding Democratic turf to his western Maryland district.
