Obama nominates new Pentagon inspector general

Rymer has been the inspector general of the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation since 2006, and was also the interim IG of the Securities and Exchange Commission from May 2012 to January 2013.

He is a 33-year veteran of the Army and Army Reserves, and is currently a command sergeant major in the Reserves.

The Defense Department’s inspector general has one of the most demanding jobs of the federal agency watchdogs, as the Pentagon is a massive organization that stretches across the globe. It also remains unable to be fully audited.
