Report: U.S. warships positioned in case of attack on Syria

According to Reuters, the USS Nimitz aircraft carrier and four other ships in its strike group began moving into the area at around 6 a.m. EDT.

The ships haven't yet been given orders to head into the Mediterranean, where more U.S. warships are stationed in preparation for a possible missile strike against Syria.

President Obama said on Saturday that while he believes a military attack on Syria is necessary, he'll seek congressional approval before proceeding. Congress is due to return from recess Sept. 9.
