Musician Dave Matthews to advocate for land conservation

Matthews joined the Wilderness Society’s board, known as the “Governing Council,” in 2009.

The South African musician became something of a sensation on college campuses everywhere with the 1994 release of the Dave Matthews Band’s “Under the Table and Dreaming” as well as a slew of subsequent albums.

The Wilderness Society, founded in 1935, works to protect the country’s public lands.

This post has been updated to reflect the fact that Dave Matthews has been a member of the Wilderness Society's board since 2009.
