White House climate aide says Obama’s ‘clean energy standard’ is alive

Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee Chairman Jeff Bingaman (D-N.M.), who is working with the White House, has yet to introduce a bill or have a hearing, and he said this month it’s unclear whether the plan can clear the committee.

“Obviously it is not on the fast timeline that we would love it to be on, but I think what’s important is that it is ultimately a tool to bring a lot of capital off the sidelines, to create jobs and help us pursue the transition to a clean energy economy,” Zichal said. “So we are going to continue to push for it.”

She spoke to reporters after remarks at an energy forum hosted by The National Journal.
