News bites: Steven Chu hits climate skeptics, Big Oil spends big in Iraq, and more

The Associated Press reports that Energy Secretary Steven Chu, in Paris, went on the offensive against climate change deniers.

“The U.S. energy secretary says the debate about climate change reminds him of the old argument that smoking isn't bad for you,” AP reports from the International Energy Agency meeting.

The Richmond Times-Dispatch reports that Virginia Gov. Bob McDonnell (R) “chided the federal government Tuesday for standing in the way of developing energy resources he called vital to the country's future.”

The Wall Street Journal reports that three major oil companies including Exxon plan to spend $100 billion upgrade oil fields in southern Iraq.
