Senate clears Energy Department nominees

The Senate also confirmed Charles McConnell to be the assistant secretary for fossil energy.

He has been chief operating officer of the fossil energy office that oversees the Strategic Petroleum Reserve, research and development of ways to lower emissions from coal-fired power plants, and other areas. More on McConnell here.

In addition, the Senate confirmed Dot Harris to be director of the Office of Minority Economic Impact.

She’s currently the president and CEO of Jabo Industries, LLC, a minority-female-owned management consulting firm that focuses on energy, according to DOE.

Gregory Woods got the nod to be DOE’s general counsel. He’ll slide over from his role as deputy general counsel at the Transportation Department.
