Magnitude 7.1 quake shakes Alaska

A strong earthquake hit south and central Alaska early Sunday, according to the Alaska Earthquake Center.

The 7.1 magnitude earthquake was centered approximately 77 miles beneath the state’s Cook Inlet region, officials said.

There were no early reports of damage or injuries.

The center later tweeted that it had recorded 30 aftershocks, the largest with a magnitude of 4.3.
