White House regs chief meets with GE on carbon rule

According to a document GE provided to the OMB, the industrial giant is warning of “potential unintended consequences of overly stringent gas standards.”

The EPA is working on an altered draft rule for future plants after floating an initial plan in early 2012. Obama in late June ordered the agency to unveil a new proposed rule by Sept. 20.

The EPA is also working on a much more far-reaching regulation that will impose emissions standards on the nation’s existing power plants.
