Scarlett served two terms during Bush’s tenure, including a stint as deputy secretary of the Interior. She was most recently with Resources for the Future, where she had been since 2009.
“The Conservancy is a leader in environmental conservation, and is poised to further strengthen its influence on public policy. I welcome the opportunity to join forces with such a devoted and skilled group of individuals who are passionate about protecting nature and shaping policies that will make a difference for future generations,” Scarlett said in a statement.
