Aide: House GOP hopes to boost drilling, block regs in debt ceiling bill

GOP and industry groups allege that EPA regulations on carbon emissions and other pollutants would hinder the economy.

The array of regulations-related provisions also includes blocking planned EPA regulation of “coal ash,” which is a waste product from coal-fired power plants, in favor of a state-based plan with EPA oversight.

The plan would also include approval of the Keystone XL pipeline, which Republicans announced earlier in the week.

McCarthy touted the plans Friday.

“[T]he pro-growth energy and regulatory policies that the House has passed this year aimed at all-American energy independence can drive a manufacturing resurgence, and reduce energy costs for American households and improving our quality of life,” he said in a statement.
