House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) might attend the upcoming international climate change talks in Copenhagen, Denmark, an aide said.
“A bipartisan group of Members of the House have expressed interest in attending the United Nations Climate Change Conference in Copenhagen, and the Speaker will make a decision about her own possible attendance soon,” spokesman Drew Hammill said.
Pelosi has made global warming a priority, spending political capital earlier this year to move a major climate and energy bill through the House by a narrow margin.
President Obama plans to attend the summit on Dec. 9. The talks, aimed at crafting a preliminary global accord on greenhouse gas cuts, run from Dec. 7-18.
