BP costs grow to $3.5 billion, in talks to sell billions in assets

More than 105,000 claims have been filed by those individuals and businesses affected along the Gulf Coast. More than 52,000 payments have been made, totaling about $165 million, BP reported Monday.

About a month ago, BP and the Obama administration agreed on a package of measures, including the creation of a $20 billion fund to pay for costs and claims from the oil spill.

The company also is creating a separate $100 million account that will provide lost wage payments to oil rig workers who aren’t working now because of the offshore drilling moratorium.
